The Los Angeles Galaxy has back-to-back losses for the first time this season.

CARSON, Calif – August 28, 2010

Its tough going for the Los Angeles Galaxy, who built momentum early in the season, now has back-to-back losses for the first time this season.  The Kansas City Wizards (KC) claimed all three points against LA at the Home Depot Center Saturday night, as the match ended 2-nil.

A big win for the Kansas City Wizards! They are now just three points behind the San Jose Earthquakes, who currently occupy the eighth and final playoff spot.  The Wizards beat the Galaxy on the road and they shut them out.  It was the Wizards first victory over the Galaxy since September 2008 and it was well worth it.

Skipper Davy Arnaud gave the Wizards their first in the in the 12th minute with a pass from midfielder Kei Kamara.  And Jimmy Conrad sealed the deal with the Wizard second goal in the 69th minute.

Kansas City Wizards Head Coach Peter Vermes had this to say on winning in LA, “Coming in, we knew that it was going to be a very difficult match based on the fact that LA is the leading team in the league and they have a great pressing game, especially at home.”

The frustration continues for the Galaxy who are still stuck at 43 points.  Down the stretch with eight games left, the team needs to turn things around, now a 13-5-4 record on the season.

If the team is trying to figure out a way to get back on track, it starts with the defending.

LA Galaxy Defender Sean Franklin had this to say, “We know we have a good team and a good defense and it showed the first half of the season. We’ve just got to go back to what we were good at and I know our team will bounce back from this. We’ve got a good group of guys, a good group of veterans and we’ve just got to prepare better for the games.”

Chris Birchall was booked in the 69th minute for his fifth yellow card of the season. As a result, he will be suspended for next weekend’s game in Chicago.

The Los Angeles Galaxy are back in action next Saturday, September 4th when they travel to Chicago to face the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park. That game kicks off at 1 pm PST.
