The Red Bulls get three points in 1-0 win over the Galaxy

There was no win for LA, they fell 1-0 to NY Saturday evening in front of 27,000 at the Home Depot Center.

CARSON, Calif. (Saturday, May 5, 2012) – The 2011 defending champs Los Angeles Galaxy are down early on in the 2012 regular season, but not out. They fell 1-0 to the New York Red Bulls Saturday evening in front of a sold out Home Depot Center.

The Galaxy defense gave up a first half goal to the visiting Red Bulls in the 19th minute with a left footed goal from Joel Lindpere inside the 18-yards box (Assisted by Jan Gunnar Solli).

New York was without their striker Thierry Henry who has been sidelined due to a right hamstring strain.

When will Galaxy GK Gaudette record a ‘W’?

No more the man in demand for LA (at least in the last three games), Goalkeeper Josh Saunders missed two consecutive home games and one away game due to personal reasons.  GK Bill Gaudette has been standing tall for the last three games and has yet to record a ‘W’ (two losses and a tie).

LA travel to Quebec to face off against their former Goalkeeper (Donovan Ricketts) who will be wearing Montreal Impact uniform, and was MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2010 in Galaxy gear.  This action begins on Saturday, May 12 at 1:00 pm PST.

Ricketts, Jamaican International veteran, was acquired during the off season in a trade between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Montreal Impact.

This will be the first meeting of the 2012 regular season for the Galaxy and MLS newest expansion team Montreal Impact.

The Galaxy are coming off back-to-back losses and currently sits in 7th place in the Western Conference with 10 points.  In the meantime, Montreal has shown ‘impact’ by recording points in their last three matches.  Most recent 2-0 shout-out away in Livestrong Sporting Park against Sporting Kansas City (SKC).  Montreal now has 11 points on the season with a 3-5-2 (win-loss-tie) record and are looking to extend their winning streak.

What a difference a year makes for the Galaxy – Year over year regular season: May 7, 2011 vs. May 7, 2012.

2011: The leader in Western Conference with a record of 4-2-4 (win-loss-tie) and 16 points.

2012: Currently in 7th place in the Western Conference with a record of 3-5-1 (win-loss-tie) and 10 points.
