Lupita Nyong’o in talks for ‘Charlie’s Angels’ reboot

Nyong’o, who rose to fame after she won an Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in “12 Years a Slave” is being considered for a lead role.

Sony Pictures is in talks with Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o for a reboot of the TV series which premiered in 1976.

“Charlie’s Angels” lasted for five seasons and starred Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith as private detectives working for a benefactor named Charlie – voiced by John Forsyth. It went on air until June 24, 1981.

It was later given the big screen treatment in 2000, with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu playing the Angels. It was a hit, but a follow-up “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” disappointed at the box office.

Nyong’o, who  rose to fame after she won an Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in “12 Years a Slave” is being considered for a lead role according to a “source” close to the production.
