Style Magazine GQ Gentlemen’s Quarterly chooses the “GQ Men of the Year 2017”

Show - GQ Men Of The Year Award 2017At the Comic Opera in Berlin, the German GQ Gentlemen’s Quarterly style magazine handed out the 19th “GQ Men of the Year Awards”  in ten categories to leading personalities in international and German show business and music, as well as in sports and fashion.

Arnold Schwarzenegger accepted the GQ award as “Legend of the Century”. The 70-year-old actor and politician who came with his son Patrick to the event, was celebrated for his unique career. An emotional moment was provided by the award to Philipp Lahm, who was honored both for his distinguished sports’ feats and his commitment to social issues. A touch of glamour was provided by the onstage appearance of models Johannes Huebl (“Influencer of the Year”) and David Gandy (“Style Icon”), as well as Thom Browne, who won “Designer of the Year.” One special highlight of the night was the award to the film “Welcome to Germany.” Actor Clemens Schick who presented the category praised the humane, funny, and yet profound way it dealt with the subject of refugees.

The event was hosted by president of Condé Nast Germany, Moritz von Laffert, GQ editor-in-chief Tom Junkersdorf, and publisher André Pollmann. Barbara Schöneberger once again brought her charm and humor to the stage as the MC of the gala.
