Diane Ross receives Lifetime Achievement Award at AMA

Global music superstars Kelly Clarkson and P!NK open the show with a dynamic collaboration, marking the first time the powerhouse singers have performed together.


Music legend Diana Ross, took the stage for a rare performance as she was honored with the “American Music Award for Lifetime Achievement” at the American Music Awards.

DIANA ROSSIntroduced by youngest son Evan, Ross, clad in a purple gown took audiences in a musical medley singing her hit songs “I’m Coming Out,” “Take Me Higher” and “Ease on Down the Road,”—a track from The Wiz, the 1979 retelling of The Wizard of Oz that saw her star alongside her onetime Motown label-mate, Michael Jackson.

“This is all about love, This is my family and I’m sending love out there to each and everyone one of you—our global family. I’m so humbled. I love you so very much and I think you know that. I really, really love you so very much and I will hold onto this beautiful honor. Thank you,” said Ross as she tearfully accepted the honor.

Other performers include BTS, Alessia Cara & Zedd, Kelly Clarkson, Selena Gomez, Niall Horan, Imagine Dragons & Khalid, Nick Jonas, Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Shawn Mendes, P!NK, Portugal. The Man, and Hailee Steinfeld & Alesso ft. Florida Georgia Line & watt. Additionally, Bebe Rexha will combine with Florida Georgia Line to treat fans to an encore performance for Xfinity TV customers, which will be available following the show on Xfinity On Demand.

The “2017 American Music Awards” celebrates 45 years as the world’s largest fan-voted awards show, where music enthusiasts watch their favorite artists and pop culture icons come together to honor idols, newcomers and record-breakers in the contemporary music scene. Tracee Ellis Ross, Golden Globe Award-winning actress and star of hit ABC comedy series “black-ish,” hosted the “2017 American Music Awards” live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
