Disney’s ‘Artemis Fowl’ reunites Nonso Anozie and director Kenneth Branagh

Anozie previously worked with Branagh on Disney’s live action film “Cinderella.”

Disney is adapting yet another book to the big screen. “Artemis Fowl” a series of eight science fiction fantasy novels written by Irish author Eoin Colfer is being adapted into a movie by award-winning playwright Conor McPherson.

Principal photography has begun on Colfer’s first book, which will be directed by and film in England, Northern Ireland and Ho Chi Minh City.

The book follows a 12-year-old genius called Artemis Fowl, who finds himself in a battle of strength and cunning against a powerful, hidden race of fairies who may be behind his father’s disappearance.CINDERELLA

Newcomer Ferdia Shaw plays the title character, with Lara McDonnell (“Love, Rosie”) playing Captain Holly Short, a feisty, spirited elf, who is kidnapped by Artemis for a ransom of fairy gold while Nonso Anozie, the Afro-British actor best known for his role as Xaro Xhoan Daxos in the HBO television series “Game of Thrones” plays the Fowl family bodyguard, named Butler. Anozie previously worked with Branagh on Disney’s live action film “Cinderella” in which he played the prince’s adviser (pictured right).

Other members of the cast include Tamara Smart, Miranda Raison and Josh Gad.
