‘Reggae Night XVII at the Bowl’ Belongs to Beres, Alpha and Protoje

On the bill are the legendary Jamaican lovers rock icon, Beres Hammond; Africa’s Bob Marley–Alpha Blondy and reggae revivalist Protoje. Concert goers will be treated to a mixture of good quality lovers rock, roots and culture music from Jamaica and Africa.

On Sunday, July 1st, KCRW World Music Festival will be presenting their 17th annual world famous reggae summer concert series, dubbed ‘Reggae Night XVII’ at the Bowl.

This year line-up consisted of old and new school reggae artists. On the bill are the legendary Jamaican lovers rock king, Beres Hammond, Africa’s Bob Marley–Alpha Blondy and reggae revivalist Protoje. Concert goers will be treated to a mixture of good quality lovers rock, roots and culture music from Jamaica and Africa.

In 2008, Beres performed at the Hollywood Bowl with UB40 and Barrington Levy, now he returns as the headliner.

A decade ago, the Lovers Rock icon had brought out a significant Los Angeles Caribbean fan base to the venue and is anticipating to bring out a greater number to see his rare LA’s performance.

The Abijah reggae star, Alpha Blondy is known to have a huge African and European following and is anticipating to put on a great show for his long awaiting west coast fans.

Protoje is not only the youngest on the bill, but this will be his first performance at the Bowl. Amongst millennials, he is credited to be the first for setting the Reggae Revival movement in motion. To date, Protoje has under his belt, 17 hot reggae singles, 4 albums, 4 mixtapes since appearing on the music scene in 2009.

The approximately 3-hours ‘Reggae Night XVII’ concert starts promptly at 7pm with short breaks for band change between acts.
