Denzel Washington

Denzel Washington is back as the monosyllabic, meticulous man with a dark past in “The Equalizer 2,” an action film which also sees the return of director Antoine Fuqua who helmed the first movie, which pulled in $192 million worldwide in 2014.

In the upcoming sequel, Washington returns as a middle-aged retired intelligence officer who can take down five men in seconds with just his bare knuckles and it’s the kind of multi-layered role we’d come to expect from the Oscar-winning director who is drawn to dark and dangerous characters.

Today, Sony Pictures dropped the trailer for the film which is based on the ’80s television series of the same name starring Edward Woodward.

The sequel follows Washington as he seeks revenge for his friend’s murder  and stars Pedro Pascal, Bill Pullman, Melissa Leoand Ashton Sanders (“Moonlight”) and releases July 20.
