‘Straight Outta Compton’s’ O’Shea Jackson Jr. Gets Acting Kudos

The award presentation will take place on Saturday, February 6.

O’Shea Jackson Jr., who played his father rapper Ice Cube in the N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton,” will be recognized by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Jackson Jr.  will join actors Alicia Vikander (“The Danish Girl,” “Ex Machina”) and Géza Röhrig (“Son of Saul”)  to receive the 2016 Virtuosos Award. The accolade is given to a select group of actors who have distinguished themselves through performances in film this past year.

Previous recipients for this award include Chadwick Boseman, David Oyelowo, Gabourey Sidibe and Viola Davis.

The award presentation will take place on Saturday, February 6th at the Arlington Theater at the 31st edition of the festival, which runs February 3 to February 13, 2016.

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival which attracts more than 90,000 attendees, is an annual event which showcases the best in independent and international cinema and offers 11 days of 200+ films, tributes and symposiums in downtown Santa Barbara, Calif.
