ABFF to host a conversation with Common

Common has starred in many classics, including “Brown Sugar,” “American Gangster,” and “Selma.”

TV One’s NewsOne Now host Roland S. Martin has been slated to moderate a panel discussion with Oscar-winning recording artist, multi-Grammy winner and actor Common at the annual ABFF (American Black Film Festival).Common

Titled  “A Conversation with Common,” Martin’s participation is an essential part of TV One’s overall commitment to contributing positive representation of the Black community.

“I’m excited to partner with ABFF as they celebrate their 20-year commitment to elevating new voices in the Black film industry,” said Martin. “With Common being one of the most respected artists committed to uplifting Black art, I look forward to discussing how his partnership with an empowering platform such as ABFF can encourage the Black community to achieve excellence.”

Common (pictured right) is well known in black film, starring in many classics, including “Brown Sugar,” “American Gangster,” “Just Wright,” and “Selma,” where he received an Academy Award for Best Song alongside R&B singer John Legend.
