The countdown begins to the music industry’s biggest night. With just a few days before the annual 58th Grammy Awards, CaribPress is conducting an unofficial poll to gauge the public’s opinion on who will win the prestigious Grammy award in the reggae category.

The poll was taken in New York, Miami, Jamaica and the larger majority done in Los Angeles, California, where the publication is based.

The Award can go to any of these selected artists. Our result from this poll does not dictate who win this coveted gold plated statue. And keep in mind some people who participated in the poll didn’t actually listen to all the respective albums. Although I was surprise to find out some people actually listen to all 5 albums. Even one of the NY voters who didn’t recognize Rocky Dawuni went online to research him and listen to his album before casting her final vote.

This is a first for all the five new comers to the Grammy running.

The candidates that are on the list for the 58th Annual Grammy Award includes Rocky Duwani, Barrington Levy, Luciano, Morgan Heritage and Jah Cure.

The exit poll final results has Jah Cure leading with a commanding 44%, followed by a second place tie between Morgan Heritage and Luciano. Third spot sits the legendary Barrington Levy with Rocky Dawuni scoring zero at the bottom of the poll.

When we pay close attention to see how the gender gap between the pollsters Jah Cure score an even 50% split both between his women and men voters.

Morgan Heritage and Luciano draw not only in the second place but share similar statistic with the male-female gender voters, which is every 6 males to 1 female ratio.

Barrington Levy sits above Rocky Duwani, with 4:2 female to male ratio.

See the list below with voters in percentage.
Grammy Stats from poll

This poll was conducted just for this article and to see how the artists are favors amongst our readers. We are not apart of the Grammy members board and the outcome does not use in the Grammy’s judging process.

The first Grammy was awarded in 1985 to then Waterhouse based group Black Uhuru. And the most recent in 2015 was given to Ziggy Marley for his “Fly Rasta” album.

According to their Wikipedia page.
“The Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album is award presented at the Grammy Awards, a ceremony that was established in 1958 and originally called Gramophone Awards, to recording artists for quality works in the reggae music genre. Honors in several categories are presented at the ceremony annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States to honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regards to album sales or chart position.”
