The cast of Paramount Picture’s “Baywatch” recently heated up the red carpet at the movie’s world premiere in Miami’s South Beach.  The entire cast of the film, which is based on the television show, were joined by original cast members David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.

The television series, which ran for 11 seasons following a team of lifeguards, aired on the U.S. based network NBC and featured a cast that included David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson and Alexandra Paul. Each week, viewers watched the team take on various dangers to their beach community, with the show ultimate

ly becoming a pop culture phenomenon.

In the film adaptation, stepping into the roles once played by David Hasselhoff and David Charvet are Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron who offer their own takes on the original characters. This screen version follows devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (Johnson) as he butts heads with a brash new recruit (Efron). Together, they uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay.

“My version of Mitch is a guy who cares deeply about his beach and just wants people to have fun,” shared Johnson on the red carpet.  “It is the most successful show in the history of television and I really wanted to pay homage to the spirit of the original show. You have these characters who were exceptional at what they did.  Everything is better and slower.”

Directed by Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses”), “Baywatch” releases in theaters Friday. Check out pictures from the premiere below, which includes cast members Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Jon Bass, Kelly Rohrbach and Ilfenesh Hadera.
