Caribpress Attends The Premiere of ‘Star Trek Beyond’ at San Diego Comic-Con‏

In “Beyond,” Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), his first officer, Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the rest of the Enterprise crew encounter an alien warrior race when marooned on a distant planet.

The premiere featured the first ever outdoor IMAX screening as well as Academy Award-Winning Composer Michael Giacchino’s thrilling film score performed live-to picture by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. 

“Star Trek Beyond,” is the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009. It returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew.  

In “Beyond,” Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), his first officer, Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the rest of the Enterprise crew encounter an alien warrior race when marooned on a distant planet after the destruction of their spaceship. Idris Elba who is unrecognizable through thick makeup and costume steals the show as the villain – a  bloodthirsty despot named Krall. 

Uhura (Zoe Saldana), McCoy (Karl Urban), Sulu (John Cho), Scotty (Simon Pegg) all return and the old Spock, the late Leonard Nimoy gets a quiet, touching tribute as does the late Anton Yelchin (Chekov) who died a few weeks in a freak accident in is Los Angeles, Calif. home. Sci-fi fans will surely enjoy this latest offering for there’s plenty of sci-fi/fantasy action violence, space battles, crashes, explosions and lots of team camaraderie and friendly banter.
