The heartfelt movie about a young man coming to terms with his sexuality in a poor Miami neighborhood stars Mahershala Ali, Naomie Harris and Janelle Monáe. “Hidden Figures,” which follows three female black mathematicians who were instrumental in getting the Apollo missions off the ground remains number one at the top of the U.S. box office.

Ali, who has the distinction of receiving the most SAG Awards nominations this year is nominated for his supporting role in the drama “Moonlight” and as a cast member of both that film and “Hidden Figures.” He has three previous nominations.

British actress Naomie Harris  (pictured right) is a first-time Actor nominee. Her Outstanding Performance in “Moonlight” is being considered for both Female Actor in a Supporting Role and Cast in a Motion Picture, while Taraji P. Henson has received six previous Actor nominations.  Three of which were for “Boston Legal.”  She was twice nominated in 2009 for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” both for her supporting role and as a cast member. Her first motion picture cast nomination was in 2006 for “Hustle & Flow,” in which starred opposite Terrence Howard.

Janelle Monáe is under consideration for both “Moonlight” and “Hidden Figures.” Her nominations for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture are her first. Octavia Spencer was previously honored with two Actor statuettes for her performance in “The Help” in 2012 and is nominated this year in those two categories for her performance in the NASA drama “Hidden Figures.”

The 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 29 and was the first televised awards show to acknowledge the work of union members and the first to present awards to motion picture casts and television ensembles.
