The Spirit Awakening Foundation will present its 4th Annual Voices of the Unheard: Epiphany benefit performance at 3 p.m., Sat., Dec. 3, at The Lost Studio Theater in Los Angeles.

The show will highlight inspiring works written by people, who live or formerly resided in probation camps within the juvenile justice system.

The mission of the organization is to assist teens and youth in the fulfillment of their spiritual identity, and to generate inspirational stories of transformation for the screen, stage and television.

Graham, who has appeared in numerous television shows including “Picket Fences,” “Chicago Hope,” “General Hospital,” and movie “American Pie,” also went through challenging times as a teen trying to find her own voice and wrote the one woman play titled “Spirit Awakening.”

“That was the vehicle I used to come back to myself,” says Graham. “During my teenage years, my challenge was more internalized about liking myself.”

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards satellite writing programs in Culver City, East LA, South Central and Lancaster.

“Formerly detained youth or foster youth in the juvenile and justice system – will have a place to go for mentoring, self growth and self awareness, writing courses, job referrals, peer mentorships,” says Graham.

This will mark Crystal’s ninth time as host. Only Bob Hope has hosted more Academy Awards presentations, with 19 ceremonies between 1940 and 1978. Crystal last hosted the Academy Awards in 2004.

Stevie Wonder closed out the night with an amazing performance from his classic repertoire before inviting Dawuni and all the featured guests to join him on stage for a final performance of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Goin On” and Stevie’s own “Higher Ground”.

To bring awareness and care to those in critical need, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz is asking viewers to make a donation to the NAFC in order to set up the free health care clinic in New Orleans.

In addition to the damage inflicted to homes, the hurricane has had a significant impact on the city’s health care community. Four hospitals were forced to close after the storm and many residents still remain uninsured. A story from the May 31, 2011 issue of the Times-Picayune newspaper reports that the entire east side of New Orleans has been without a hospital since Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.

“Though Hurricane Katrina occurred six years ago, New Orleans is still in desperate need of resources and help. We urge everyone to get involved and donate to help the many hard-working Americans that still do not have access to affordable health care,” said Nicole Lamoureux, NAFC Executive Director.

All participants in the NAFC clinic will receive preventive primary medical care and will be connected to the area’s safety net providers. More than 10,000 uninsured people have received medical care at similar free clinics sponsored by the NAFC.

This will be the fifth free health clinic “The Ed Show” has broadcast from. In the past few years alone, MSNBC has raised over $3 million dollars in viewer donations to help this cause.

A variety of motion picture formats and technologies will be discussed, including animation, motion capture and visual effects.

Presented by the Academy’s Science and Technology Council, the program’s participants will include Cinematography Branch governor John Bailey (“Country Strong,” 2010); Oscar®-winning cinematographers Guillermo Navarro (“Pan’s Labyrinth,” 2006) and Dean Semler (“Dances With Wolves,” 1990); Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois, directors of the CG-animated feature “How to Train Your Dragon” (2010), who will discuss how cinematographer Roger Deakins helped create the look of the Oscar-nominated film; Science and Technology Council member Rob Hummel, who will explain the film and digital image capture processes; and digital intermediate colorist Adrian Seery. The program will also include recorded remarks from 2010’s Oscar winner for Cinematography, Wally Pfister (“Inception”).

Kroyer received an Academy Award® nomination for his 1988 short film “Technological Threat,” which pioneered the technique of combining hand-drawn and computer animation. He directed the animated feature film “FernGully: The LastRainforest” (1992), was senior animation director at Rhythm & Hues Studios in Los Angeles, and is director of the digital arts program at the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University.

The father, who has been unemployed for a long time and is struggling to make ends meet, finally finds work posting flyers and scrapes together the funds to buy a bicycle. When his only means of transportation is stolen on his first day of work, any hope of a better life is lost as well.

Directed by Vittorio De Sica from a screenplay by Cesare Zavattini, the film gives a poignant look at the postwar woes of poverty, hunger and despair, using untrained actors and everyday settings in classic Italian neorealist style.

Scorsese, who won the 2006 Directing Oscar for ‘The Departed,’ is renowned for his love of cinema and knowledge of film history. His own heritage helped to develop his appreciation for Italian neorealism.

From cruel and unsanitary conditions in cattle and chicken farming to the addition of corn syrup and sodium to many foods, ‘Food, Inc.’ examines the ways in which large corporations in the American food industry dominate the marketplace and affect the quality of what we consume.

Directed by Robert Kenner and produced by Kenner and Elise Pearlstein, ‘Food, Inc.’ earned an Academy Award® nomination for Documentary Feature.  Pearlstein will be present to take questions from the audience following the screening.
