It’s a holly, jolly wonderful time of the year where City-walks, malls and shopping centers are decked out with dazzling light displays to reflect the mood of the holiday season.

Check out the many family-friendly activities during the holidays.

  • Grab your skates and head to LA’s newest ice skating rink at Nokia Plaza at L.A. Live.  Open for winter fun through the end of December.
  • Visit Grinchmas at Universal Studios Hollywood – Enjoy wintertime family activities in real snow, meet the Grinch, on the backlot of Universal Studios Hollywood.  Check out www.universalstudioshollywood.com
  • Join in reindeer games, through the New Year.  Visit the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens at this year’s Reindeer Romp.  On weekends, children can meet Santa and friends for a photo opportunity.  Check out www.lazoo.org
  • Stevie Wonder’s House Full of Toys – Now in its sixteenth (16) year will take on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live, Downtown Los Angeles.
  • Olvera Street Merchants to hold their annual Los Posadas festivities beginning December 16 – 24.  The events offer free seasonal entertainment each evening at 6 p.m. with the traditional candlelight procession starting at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Avila Adobe.  Free Mexican hot beverage and pan dulce (sweet bread), plus a festive piñata breaking for the children.
  • LA County holiday celebration on December 24, 2011 – 3 to 6 p.m. at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at The Music Center – FREE three hour seasonal music and dance show.  Feature: Choirs, music ensembles and dance companies representing the diversity of cultures across Southern California.
  • The Nutcraker – Classic Ballet at San Gabriel Mission Playhouse, December 17-18; The Pasadena Civic Auditorium, December 21-23, 2011.

Support your local communities – Visit the stores in Windsor Shopping Center, on Slauson Avenue, between Angeles Vista and Overhill, Los Angeles.
