Women Dominate the CMT Music Awards

Carrie Underwood leads with five nominations and Miranda Lambert follows a close behind with four nominations

Women lead the pack at 2012’s CMT Awards as Miranda Lambert follows closely behind country singer Carrie Underwood with four nominations; two for her solo work and two as a member of country trio and first-time nominees Pistol Annies, who are up for Group Video of the Year and USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year awards.

Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift and Thompson Square are next in line tied for three nominations apiece.  Duo The Civil Wars also received three nominations, including two for their collaboration with Taylor Swift on the hit song “Safe & Sound” from “The Hunger Games” soundtrack.

Fan voting for the awards begins Monday on the network’s website CMT.com and runs through June 4. The 2012 CMT Music Awards will air LIVE from Nashville on Wednesday, June 6.
