ð        West Indies replaced Chris Gayle as Captain with All-rounder Darren Sammy.  The change came after the West Indies slid to seventh in the Test ranking and eighth in the One-day standings.   Ernest Hilaire, WICB Chief Executive in a statement thanked Gayle for stepping up during a challenging period.

The selection committee chairman Clyde Butts added: “We are at the dawn of a new era in West Indies cricket and we have entrusted the challenging job of captaincy to Darren Sammy because it is believed that he has demonstrated the attributes of a leader of this diverse group of men.”

Sammy 26 hails from St. Lucia “I am going to be bold and frank,” Sammy told ESPN Cricinfo. “I will let the players know what I expect and I, myself, will set an example. I will bring out the passion, the energy, and the commitment to West Indies cricket.”

ð        Bangladesh vs New Zealand October 5-17.  Bangladesh completed an outstanding 4-0 series win over New Zealand.  Bangladesh won the first ODI by 9 runs (D/L method).  The second ODI was abandoned without a ball bowled.   Bangladesh won the third ODI by 7 wickets (with 60 balls remaining), the fourth ODI by 9 runs and the fifth ODI by 3 runs.

ð        Zimbabwe tour of South Africa October 8-22.  South Africa won the two T20 by 2-0 and ODI series by 3-0.

ð        South Africa vs Pakistan (October 26 to November 24, 2010) tour in progress.  South Africa won first T20I by 6 wickets (with 1.4 overs remaining) and second T20I by 6 wickets (with 1.4 overs remaining).  South Africa won the T20I series 2-0.
