“Slumdog Millionaire” director Danny Boyle has been tapped to take the helm for the next Bond film.

Production will begin in December 2018 at Pinewood Studios in London for the movie which sees the return of Daniel Craig  as 007, the legendary British secret agent.

Although it is the first time that Boyle has been confirmed, he previously revealed that he was working on a treatment for a potential Bond film earlier this year. While the distribution fee is expected to be on the modest side, landing the James Bond franchise is an enormous “get” for Universal and Comcast.

Jonathan Glickman, President, Motion Picture Group added, “It has been 16 years since Die Another Day was distributed by MGM and it’s incredibly gratifying to be releasing this film alongside the powerhouse team at Universal”. Sony who produced the previous four Daniel Craig led Bond films only made a modest profit.

Also rumored to return to the franchise are Ben Whishaw, who plays gadgets expert Q, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny.
