Day Five of State of Emergency decree in T&T

The Coast Guard and Air Guards were continuing their ongoing sea and air operations.

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago – (August 26, 2011)  – According to police officials, 462  arrests have been made since the state of emergency was imposed, with 190 of them being gang related.

Stop and search exercises were carried out at Beetham Gardens, Morvant, Cocorite, Laventille, St Augustine, Chaguanas, and Marabella. During those exercises 62 people and 82 vehicles were searched.

Maharaj disclosed that 13 arrests for drug related offences and one for the illegal possession of camouflage clothing were made in the Beetham Gardens while 15 rounds of nine millimeter and one round of 38 ammunition were recovered
