CARSON, Calif. – A great finish by the big man defender Omar Gonzalez with a stoppage time goal, as the short-handed Los Angeles Galaxy knockoff Sporting Kansas City 2-1 Saturday night at Stubhub Center.

With both teams tied 1-1 deep into added time, Gonzalez was elated after he broke the equalizer with his first goal of the 2015 MLS regular season. He came on as a substitute to score the stoppage time goal off a Juninho corner kick in 90+4 for LA.

The crowd went ‘bonkers’ as LA struck early on, when midfielder Baggio Husidic slotted a right-footed ball to the back of Sporting net. An intense game, with an energetic 20,000 excited about the game only to watch as the lead faded with a Sporting equalizer approximately 10 minutes later.

In the 22 minutes, with no defense from the Galaxy backline, Sporting Krisztian Németh maneuvered one pass Galaxy ‘keeper’ Jaime Penedo, who executed his best defensive slide to hold off the goal, but to no avail. The goal was assisted by Benny Feilhaber and Dominic Dwyer.

Juninho wore the captain armband, as Robbie Keane – a huge miss for LA – continues to be away on international duty for Ireland. Fellow Galaxy youngster, 18-year-old, Bradford Jamieson IV, got first team start in place of Keane.

It was a special week for Omar Gonzalez and Gyasi Zardes as they took part in international duty for the US National Team. Both players came on the pitch as substitutes.
