Gugu Mbatha-Raw to play pioneering Jamaican nurse Mary Seacole

“Mary Seacole was an extraordinary woman, and I’m proud to bring her story to today’s audiences,” says Billy Peterson.

“Seacole” stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Mary Seacole, a pioneering Jamaican nurse who became known during the Crimean War for her care of wounded British soldiers. Her self-sacrifice on the front lines and fierce, adversarial relationship with Florence Nightingale during the war made her famous in her time.Gugu Mbatha-Raw
