Dawn Penn, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Beenie Man and Elephant Man were this year’s surprise performance at the BET Awards.

Seated in the front row was Nicki Minaj who went crazy when Beenie Man took to the stage.

Dawn Penn flicks it on with her classic single “No No No,” then Chaka Demus & Pliers follows with “Murder She Wrote.”
The entire audience were on their feet by the time the king of the dancehall Beenie Man touch the stage with his “Sim Simma” and “Girls Dem Sugar” medley.

Elephant Man aka Energy God appears from the center isle rushing to the stage dressed in a black and white animal print jacket and a tightly fitted red pant. The blonde hair Energy God brings down the curtain on the reggae segment with his usually high energy performance.

The dancing Energy God and Beenie show off some popular dance moves like “Go Down the Flank” to “Signal the plane” and “Gi Dem a Run” as the voice of New York disc jockey Jabba tout the mic while pairs of female and male dancers set the stage as if it was inside a typical dancehall party giving the BET crowd a glimpse of the Island’s colorful culture.

Although it was a short act, they were well received by the all standing, clapping and screaming audience while some of them bust their dance moves as a show of appreciation.
