Julian Marley, Michelle Obama and Nipsey Hustle are Amongst Grammy Nominees

The 62nd annual Grammy show will air on CBS on Sunday, January 26.

Grammy host Alicia Keys and singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha announced the nominees for the  62nd annual awards live on CBS This Morning   Lizzo topped the list with eight Grammy Award nominations and Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X followed closely each received six nods.

In the reggae category, Julian Marley, who is currently on a US West Coast tour, received his second Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album for “As I Am.” He received a Grammy nomination in 2009 in the same category for the album “Awake” and will battle it out this year for the trophy with the Jamaican new comer Koffee, Sly & Robbie & Roots Radics,  Steel Pulse and Third World who are also nominated.

Other nominees include deceased rapper Nipsey Hussle who is up for 3 Grammy nominations. Hussle earned three Grammy nods in the Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Performance categories for his appearance on DJ Khaled’s “Higher” with John Legend. Former first lady Michelle Obama is nominated for Best Spoken Word Album for her best-selling memoir “Becoming.”

The Grammys honor outstanding recordings released between October 1, 2018 and September 30, 2019. The 62nd annual Grammy show will air on CBS on Sunday, January 26.
