LA’s Dancehall Massive Gets Its First Taste of Jamaican ‘Spice’

Spice says she’s “ready to shake it up like a shaker” for her very first performance in Los Angeles!

2016_0622_reggae_artist_Spice_600x300Southern Californians are about to get a taste of modern dancehall vibes this weekend when sensational Jamaican songstress Spice makes her West Coast debut. The chart topping deejay from Portmore, St Catherine is set to mash up the stage at the Savoy Entertainment Center in Inglewood on Sunday, June 26.

Spice says she’s “ready to shake it up like a shaker” for her very first performance in Los Angeles!

The 33 year-old artist has been touring steadily in Europe, the Caribbean and on the East Coast ever since her first live performance which happened to be at the mighty Sting dancehall festival in 2000.

Spice is known for delivering slackness with style and will surely kick it away with hits like “Romping Shop,” “So Mi Like It,” and her newest single, “Indicator”.

It’s no accident that Grace Latoya Hamilton became the international superstar known as “Spice.” This former Edna Manley School of Visual and Performing Arts student now sits poised for a take over. When Marion Hall aka “Lady Saw” officially gave up her “dancehall queen” status to pursue gospel, Spice was considered by many in the music business to be the frontrunner for the coveted title. “She’s from the Vybz Kartel camp and a lot of talent comes out of that crew. She’s one of the few female artists out there who is up to the task” says LA concert promoter, Love Zone.

The Savoy Entertainment Center is a welcoming place for dancehall’s biggest divas, having recently hosted Lady Saw and Macka Diamond. Adding Spice to the club’s catalogue is icing on the cake. “I’m excited” Savoy Club owner Jonathan De Veaux told CaribPress Newsmagazine.

This Sunday enthusiasts of vibrating, waist winding Jamaican music will get to weigh in on the on-going discussion of who will be the next reigning queen of the dancehall!
