LGBTQ Community to honor actress Loretta Devine

The Truth Awards will benefit the DIVA Foundation which is founded by Sheryl Lee Ralph.

The Carmichael Show - Season 1The first African American transgender model Tracey Norman, celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine and Emmy-winning actress Loretta Devine are among the honorees at the third annual  Truth Awards.

The event will be hosted by actress Angela Robinson (“The Haves and Have Nots)” on Saturday, March 11  at the Taglyan Cultural Complex.

The Truth Awards honors African-Americans whose personal and professional accomplishments have positively impacted the perception and image of the Black LGBTQ community. Sherri Shepherd  (“The View”), actors Renee Lawless (“The Haves and Have Nots”), Gabrielle Dennis (“Rosewood”), Parnell Damone Marcano (“Greenleaf”), reality star and transgender model Isis King (“America Next Top Model” and “Strut”), Rodney Chester (“Noah’s Arc),  Nic Few (“90 Days”), journalist Tre’Vell Anderson of the LA Times, and two-time Emmy-winning hairstylist Kiyah Wright as well as Emmy winner celebrity makeup artist Valente Frazier will serve as presenters.

Performing at this event  is two-time Grammy winner Ann Nesby, former lead singer of the R & B and gospel group, Sounds of Blackness.

The Truth Awards will benefit the DIVA Foundation which is founded by Sheryl Lee Ralph and its partnership with BBLA, which has initiated several initiatives aimed at affirming and strengthening the African American LGBTQ community.
