Martin Scorsese’s ‘Silence’ is a Crowd Pleaser

The prolific director has earned numerous critical honors, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Director.

Martin ScorseseParamount Pictures and the Film Foundation presented a special screening of Martin Scorsese’s latest film ‘Silence.’

Stars Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver, Liam Neeson, Issey Ogata, were in attendance of the private screening  held at the Regency Theater in Westwood, Calif.  Based on Shusaku Endo’s 1966 acclaimed novel, “Silence,” which opens in theaters this month follows two Christian missionaries (Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver) who travel to Japan in search of their missing mentor (Liam Neeson) – at a time when Christianity was outlawed and their presence forbidden.

One of the most acclaimed and honored filmmakers of all time, Scorsese, whose directing credits include award winning dramas “Good Fellas,” “Taxi Driver,” “The Departed” and “Casino” received a standing ovation after the screening which was followed by a Q&A.

The prolific director has earned numerous critical honors, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Director for the Howard Hughes biopic “The Aviator” and  the film which opens in theaters Dec. 23 is already being touted as an Oscar contender.
