Meryl Streep to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award

The news was announced today by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

Eight-time Golden Globe-winner Meryl Streep will be honored with the 2017 Cecil B. D86th Academy Awards, ArrivalseMille Award at the “74th Annual Golden Globe Awards” on Sunday, January 8, 2017.

The 2017 Golden Globe Awards will air live coast-to-coast on NBC from 5-8 p.m. PT / 8-11 p.m. ET from the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The news was announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). 

Chosen by the HFPA Board of Directors, the Cecil B. DeMille Award is given annually to a talented individual who has made an incredible impact on the world of entertainment.

Recent recipients include Denzel Washington, Jodie Foster Morgan Freeman,  Robert De Niro and Steven Spielberg.

In the past four decades, Streep has portrayed an astonishing range of characters on screen and stage. She received her first Oscar nomination for “The Deer Hunter” and in 2015, she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her role as The Witch in “Into the Woods” marking her 29th recognition by the HFPA.  The three-time Academy Award-winner was recently seen in Stephen Frears’ “Florence Foster Jenkins.”

Produced by dick clark productions in association with the HFPA, the Golden Globe Awards are viewed in more than 236 countries worldwide and are one of the few awards ceremonies to include both motion picture and television achievements.
