Fireworks Forecast at MLS Season Opener for LA Galaxy vs Chicago Fire

CARSON, Calif: On Friday, March 6th , The MLS defending Cup champions, LA Galaxy will take on Chicago Fire scheduled for 7pm at the StubHub Center.

The LA squad will be defending its championship title throughout the 20th season which ends October 25th. The playoffs will be held between October 28 to early December.

Last season, Chicago Fire finished in 9th position in the Eastern Conference. The 2014 Western Conference champions come to the match with the MLS’ most winning record. It’s no surprise the LA Galaxy is favored to win this season opener though there will certainly be fireworks on the pitch, with both teams having athletes who made the CaribPress Newsmagazine (CPN) Sports Playlist.

The 6 foot tall goalkeeper Penedo joined the LA Galaxy roster in late 2013. He had played 29 MLS Regular Season matches, recording 15-7-7, eight shutouts and a 1.14 goals against average and was very instrumental in the Galaxy earning their 5th MLS Cup title. While Chicago Fire’s recently added forward David Accam, brings to “The Men in Red” squad an impressive track record and proven experience.

This year MSL season will consist of 20 clubs (17 based in USA and 3 based in Canada), including two new teams added to the Eastern Conference division, the New York City FC and Orlando City SC.

New York City FC will be the second team located in the New York metropolitan area, joining the New York Red Bulls (based in New Jersey). The new team will play its inaugural season at Yankee Stadium. Orlando City SC is based in Orlando, Florida and will enjoy playing home games at the 61,000 capacity Citrus Bowl.
