‘Of Good Report’ will premiere at PAFF

Jahmil X.T. Qubeka’s sexually charged South African film is the festival’s opening-night premiere.

The Pan African Film Festival will kick off its 22nd year showcasing 172 films — documentaries, features, shorts and webseries — during its nearly two-week stint at the Rave Cinemas Baldwin Hills theater in Los Angeles.

“Of Good Report” a movie which was initially banned in South Africa centers on a high-school teacher who becomes obsessed with a 16-year-old student and will screen at the festival this Thursday

Paff will close the festival on Sunday, February 16 with the movie “Blackbird,” a coming-of-age story about 17-year-old high school choir boy struggling to come to terms with his sexuality.  Based on the novel by Larry Duplechan, the film stars Oscar winner Mo’Nique and Isaiah Washington.
