It’s a wrap for the annual Pan African Film Festival.  The event, which bill itself as the nation’s largest annual black-themed filmfest celebrated its 25th anniversary with over 200 feature films screened. Along with the films and discussion panels, there were awards, including a 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award presented to actress Alfre Woodard and an Audience Award for Nnegest Likke‘s film “Everything But a Man,” which stars Jimmy Jean-Louis (“Toussaint Louverture“) and Monica Calhoun (“Best Man,” “Best Man Holiday“).

A gateway for movies from the diaspora, which one may never get to see and where movie enthusiasts can see films from Africa and the Caribbean, PAFF continues to blaze new paths, presenting many movies of black cinema. This year’s lineup included commercial features, indies, documentaries, shorts and videos, by artists from several countries including Nigeria, Guinea, Senegal,  Kenya, Mexico, Ethiopia, Haiti, Puerto Rico and New Zealand.

Caribpress was there throughout the 12 day festival attending the red carpet events, which was filled with filmmakers, actors, and directors from around the world. Check out our images below:
