George Herbert Walker Bush, the 41st President of the United States, has died. He served from 1989 to 1993, during the end of the Cold War. Bush also served as Vice President of the United States under Ronald Reagan from 1981 to 1989. Previously, he served as a U.S. Congressman from Texas, Ambassador to the United Nations, and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.Bush was born on June 12, 1924 in Milton, Massachusetts. He was part of a political dynasty. His father Prescott Sheldon Bush (1895 – 1972) was a U.S. Senator who represented Connecticut from 1952 to 1963. He and his eldest child, George W. Bush, were only the second father and son duo to both serve as U.S. President. The younger Bush also served as Governor of Texas. Another son, Jeb Bush, was Governor of Florida and a U.S. presidential candidate in 2016.Bush died at his Houston, Texas home on Friday, November 30, 2018. His death at the age of 94 years, 171 days, made him the longest living U.S. President in history.

George H. W. Bush also leaves behind sons Neil and Marvin Bush, and a daughter Dorothy LeBlond Koch. His wife, the former Barbara Pierce died earlier this year and his eldest daughter Pauline Robinson Bush also preceded him in death. Additional survivors include two siblings, fourteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
