‘Rise of the Guardians’ is a perfect tale of legendary childhood heroes

Memorable characters, familiar voices riddled with humor and heartfelt emotion make it well worth the ticket price.

What if Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny were friends and hung out in the same place as the tooth fairy? That’s the premise of this delightful flick which brings together a collection of cute characters parents and children will identify with.

Featuring the voices of Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher, Jude Law and Dakota Goyo, viewers of every age will be touched by this movie which brings us into the world of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and the Sandman — childhood legends and guardians who have been tasked with protecting the innocence and imagination of kids of all ages.

When a menace arrives with a plan to erase the Guardians from existence by robbing children of their hopes and dreams, these beloved crusaders call on Jack Frost (Chris Pine), a reluctant new recruit who’d rather enjoy a snow day than save the world and the superheroes band together into a team to fight an evil menace called the Bogeyman who wants to conquer the world by spreading fear across the globe.

Based on the book series “Guardians of Childhood” by William Joyce, and directed by Peter Ramsey, who spent a number of years as a story board artist on numerous live-action films including “Independence Day” “The Hulk” and “Minority Report,” “Rise” is easily one of the best animated adventure movies of the year.

Infectious and engaging, it’s a simple story which is perfectly executed, adding the 3D gives the images a little more depth.
