Sony Pictures to make ‘Men In Black’ spinoff

The spinoff is expected to hit theaters on May 17, 2019.

“Men In Black” is officially heading back to the big screen. According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has officially greenlit a spinoff  set to hit theaters in 2019.

Neither Will Smith nor Tommy Lee Jones is expected to return to reprise their iconic roles in the hit alien franchise. Instead, the Men In Black spinoff will build off the universe the films created, and focus on a whole new set of characters.

Sony has tapped Matt Holloway and Art Marcum (“Iron Man”)  to write the script for the upcoming spinoff, which will feature another pair of good guys dressed in black guarding the world against tera-terrestrial violence.

Though the last few films in the franchise found the Men In Black battling alien forces on their home turf, the new film is expected to find the secret agents operating on a global scale.

Currently, the spinoff doesn’t have a director attached.

Sony Pictures’ “Men In Black” spinoff is expected to hit theaters on May 17, 2019.
