Ewart Beckford, O.D., commonly known as U-Roy, who helped originate the modern DJ rap style has died.
In 1972, Nash had his biggest success with the reggae inspired, “I Can See Clearly Now.” The song, which Nash allegedly wrote while he was undergoing cataract surgery, spent four weeks atop Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. The million selling single was also the title track of his popular album, which included several songs written by Bob Marley.

Well, from what I know about music and the government . . . the government [has] never really support[ed] Jamaican music as a whole. Whether reggae, ska, or rocksteady. Because really, you don’t find reggae music playing on the radio in Jamaica. They mostly play foreign music. American music.

Marley is slated to perform in Garlin’s homeland on October 30th, 2015 in Tobago at Pigeon Point (Colours Of Reggae) and October 31st, 2015 in Trinidad at Hasley Crawford Stadium
