From “Moonlight” to “Loving,” “Fences” to “Hidden Figures,” there were several movies released this year that are considered masterpieces.

At the 8th annual African American Film Critics Association awards, these films and TV shows “Queen Sugar” and “Underground” were acknowledged and applauded.

Moonlight” took home five of the organization’s honors, including best film, director, and supporting actor for Mahershala Ali and OWN’s “Queen Sugar” grabbed the top TV award.AAFCA is now in its 8th year
