“Underground’ is a movement,” says series executive producer John Legend

The Oscar-winning musician serves as executive producer on the drama “Underground.”

The drama, which airs weekly on Wednesdays, draws 3 million viewers and is the 6th highest-rated scripted series premiere of any cable drama this season.John Legend

“‘Underground’ isn’t just a television show, it’s a movement,” says executive producer Legend whose production banner Get Lifted oversees the score, soundtrack and all other music aspects of the series. “It is storytelling at its finest.  This show does so much more than entertain, it inspires us to reflect on our past and learn from those mistakes to make a brighter future for our children.”

The cast of “Underground” also includes Christopher Meloni, Alano Miller, Jessica de Gouw, Marc Blucas and Amirah Vann.

Created and written by “Sons of Anarchy” and “Heroes” alum Misha Green and “Heroes” and “Daredevil” alum Joe Pokaski, they also serve as executive producers along with Akiva Goldsman in addition to Legend. Anthony Hemingway directs and exec produces.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Tribune Studios, the 10-episode second season order is set to begin production this summer for a 2017 debut.
