Universal Pictures to release ‘The Best Man Holiday’

Malcolm D. Lee returns to write and direct this sequel to his directorial debut.

Scheduled to be released on November 15, “The Best Man Holiday” is a sequel to the 1999 film “The Best Man,” a romantic comedy about a writer who finds out the hard way about the consequences of walking a fine line between fiction and real life.

The film hit all the right cultural touchstones and won numerous awards and accolades when it was released over a decade ago. Made on a small budget of nine million dollars, the film went on to make over $34,000,000 by the end of its theatrical run and all eight of the principal cast members received nominations for the film at the 2000 NAACP Image Awards and the film itself also won Outstanding Motion Picture that year.

After nearly 15 years apart, Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Harold Perrineau, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Monica Calhoun, and Regina Hall will reprise their career-launching roles when they reunite over the Christmas holidays and discover just how easy it is for long-forgotten rivalries and romances to be ignited in the upcoming sequel.

Written and directed by Malcolm D. Lee, (cousin to Spike Lee) Preston Holmes serves as executive producer.
