Wendell James named grand marshal for Long Beach Pride Parade

The festival will be held Saturday May 21st and Sunday, May 22 at the Marina Green & Rainbow Lagoon in Long Beach, CA.

Wendell James has been appointed Grand Marshal for the 33rd Annual Long Beach Pride Parade. The actor who has appeared in “35 and Ticking,” the reality series “Breaking the Band” and “My Super Sweet 16″  will use his celebrity to be a voice and a positive force within the LGBTQ. Wendell James

His struggle to reconcile his sexuality and his religious beliefs was featured on “Raising Whitley,” where James is a “Hollywood Husband” to comedienne Kym Whitley and a father figure to her son.

“We all have some sort of struggle in life and we all want to be heard, but some people are just too afraid to speak out for fear of what others may think,” James said in a statement. “I lived with my struggle long enough until I spoke out and not only did it help me but, it helped others, so I decided to use my platform to speak for those who can’t.”

The festival will be held Saturday May 21st and Sunday, May 22 at the Marina Green & Rainbow Lagoon in Long Beach, CA. 

Tickets for the festival are $25 a day at the gate and $20 a day if purchased online.

Children under age 12 are free, but must be accompanied by an adult.
