“Bad Boys” is set to be the latest movie franchise to get a TV reboot in the form of a spin-off show, according to reports.

The series will revolve around Special Agent Syd Burnett (played by Gabrielle Union) who appeared in the second movie, which premiered in 2003 and was produced by Sony and Jerry Bruckheimer.

The two Bad Boys movies starred Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as a pair of Miami PD detectives and is the latest in a long line of shows from the 1980s and 1990s to be revived, with CBS ordering a pilot for a remake of 1980s detective hit “Magnum PI” earlier this week. The CW recently debuted its reboot of classic ABC soap opera “Dynasty.”

According to Deadline, the untitled “Bad Boys” spinoff is being written by “The Blacklist” writers-producers  Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier. Union’s Special Agent Sydney “Syd” Burnett, introduced in the sequel Bad Boys II,” is the sister of Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) who was romantically involved with Marcus’ partner, Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowrey (Will Smith). She is an undercover operative with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
