Will Smith plans to support the Image Awards

The 47th NAACP Image Awards will be nationally telecast live on TV One on Friday.

He certainly has no plans to attend the Oscars, but Smith’sCONCUSSION camp has confirmed that he will be attending the NAACP Image Awards, which will be held this Friday at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

Smith, who vowed not to attend the Feb. 28 Academy Awards ceremony in protest over the lack of diversity among nominees in major categories, will join an all-star lineup of talent confirmed to attend and/or present at the Image Awards, which is an annual ceremony that celebrates the accomplishment of people of color.

The “Men in Black” star is nominated for the movie “Concussion'” in which he plays a Nigerian doctor investigating head injuries sustained by American football players. It’s an award many feel Smith will receive.
